Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Enzo Maresca is enthusiastic about the prospect of becoming Chelsea’s new manager. After Mauricio Pochettino’s departure from the Blues by mutual consent, the club has been actively searching for his successor.

Several names have been floated as potential candidates for the head coach position at Chelsea. Among them are Ruben Amorim, Roberto De Zerbi, Thomas Frank, and Kieran McKenna.

However, Romano has provided a key update on Maresca, currently managing Leicester City, indicating his eagerness to take on the Chelsea role.

In his Daily Briefing, Romano stated: “I’m receiving many questions about the Enzo Maresca guys, and I can confirm that Maresca is super open and super keen on joining Chelsea. So it’s a concrete possibility.”

Maresca’s potential appointment raises the question: Can he elevate Chelsea to the next level? With experience in the Premier League as an assistant coach under the highly regarded Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, Maresca has demonstrated his coaching acumen. After leaving Manchester City, he took the helm at Leicester City, leading them to promotion in his first season.

His managerial tenure at Leicester saw him working with young talents such as Cole Palmer, Romeo Lavia, and Cesare Casadei. Notably, Casadei flourished under Maresca’s guidance before being recalled by Chelsea in January.

Maresca’s ability to nurture young players could be particularly valuable for Chelsea, whose squad now boasts significant Premier League experience and is poised to challenge for trophies.

Maresca’s coaching philosophy emphasizes modern, dynamic football characterized by control and movement. His teams are known for being dynamic and unpredictable, qualities that could benefit Chelsea.

Having proven his managerial credentials at Leicester, Maresca could bring a fresh approach and innovative tactics to one of England’s biggest clubs if appointed.

The excitement surrounding Maresca’s potential move to Chelsea is palpable. His familiarity with the Premier League, coupled with his success in developing young talent and his tactical prowess, make him a compelling candidate.

Should Chelsea proceed with his appointment, Maresca will have the opportunity to prove himself on a grand stage, aiming to restore the club to its former glory and compete for top honours.
