Neil Crosby, the agent of West Ham goalkeeper Nathan Trott, recently disclosed that clubs in England and a major Dutch club had shown interest in his client. However, Trott, who spent two successful seasons on loan at Danish club Vejle Boldklub, opted for a move to FC Copenhagen.
Despite his contract at West Ham running until 2026, the Bermuda-born keeper is set to leave. Crosby explained the decision to Tipsbladet on 23 June: “We have spoken to several other of the really big clubs in Denmark who really wanted Nathan, but there was nothing to consider once we had sat down with ‘PC’ and Jacob Neestrup and heard their vision.
“There was also a lot of interest from Championship clubs and a big Dutch club, and we had been in dialogue with all of them, so FC Copenhagen was actually the last club to sit down at the table.
“There was just something different about ‘PC’ and Jacob Neestrup that the other clubs couldn’t join. They were fully dedicated and we felt that they wanted Nathan 100 per cent, so it was an easy decision for us to take FC Copenhagen, emphasises Neil Crosby.”
Trott’s departure from West Ham has opened the door for the club to sign Wes Foderingham. With Trott’s contract expiring in 2026, the timing was right for him to seek a permanent move where he could secure a first-choice position.
West Ham is now set to finalize the deal for Foderingham, according to Dharmesh Sheth. The 33-year-old experienced goalkeeper will provide cover for Alphonse Areola and Lukasz Fabianski under the guidance of Julen Lopetegui.
Foderingham’s arrival on a free transfer will fill the gap left by Trott and add depth to West Ham’s goalkeeping options. This strategic move allows the Hammers to strengthen their squad while enabling a promising young player to continue his development elsewhere.
By allowing the 25-year-old Trott to move on and bringing in the seasoned Foderingham, West Ham are making a calculated effort to bolster their goalkeeping department. This decision benefits all parties involved and sets the stage for a smooth transition within the club’s goalkeeping ranks.
