Jack Harrison’s return to Everton has been confirmed.
The winger was instrumental under Sean Dyche while on loan from Leeds United last season, making 29 appearances and netting three goals. Leeds’ failure to secure promotion from the Championship activated a clause in Harrison’s contract, allowing him to move back to the Premier League, and Everton have capitalized on this opportunity.
Everton’s intention to bring Harrison back was evident by the end of last season. The Liverpool Echo first reported the club’s plans to initiate negotiations before the final game, and the club promptly acted. Talks progressed quickly last week, and Harrison has now become Everton’s second summer signing, following the arrival of Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam.
Harrison, currently in Miami for pre-season preparations, expressed his excitement about returning to Goodison Park for the club’s final season at the historic stadium. He said, “It’s a great honour to be part of the last season at Goodison. It’s a club with a lot of history and you see how many fans have packed out the stadium for such a long time.”
Reflecting on his previous stint, Harrison added, “I’m definitely excited. I always remember Goodison Park having a great atmosphere at games. Being part of it last year, especially moments like the win over Liverpool under the lights, the big win over Newcastle, as well – the atmosphere was bouncing and it’s such a pleasure to be part of that. The last season at Goodison Park has to be a special one for everybody and we’ll definitely be wanting to make the most of those games like last year and create more memories.”
Harrison also acknowledged the need for improvement, stating, “We can take confidence from last season but I think there’s a lot we can improve upon, as well. I know defensively we were very sound last season, but on the attacking end I want to be able to add more to the team and improve my numbers with goals and assists.”
As Everton gear up for their final season at Goodison Park, Harrison’s return promises to be a significant boost, aiming to build on the positives from last year and create more memorable moments for the club and its supporters.
