Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness has suggested that Leicester City may be compelled to make “another big sale” before the transfer window closes.

Speaking on the Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness, who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs, hinted that the recent acquisition of Oliver Skipp from Tottenham might signal an impending exit of a key player.

Skipp’s move to Leicester for a reported fee exceeding £20 million marks the Foxes’ sixth signing of the summer. However, Wyness believes that this transfer could have been approved with the understanding that another significant departure is on the horizon.

“They have sold players in this window, and you’d think another big sale would be coming,” Wyness commented. “That would be the only reason I would think of for them going ahead and sanctioning the Skipp deal.”

Leicester’s summer has already seen some high-profile exits. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was sold to Chelsea for a substantial fee, and Kelechi Iheanacho left the club at the end of his contract in June.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace’s Jordan Ayew is reportedly close to finalising a move to the King Power Stadium, further indicating Leicester’s active role in the transfer market.

Wyness emphasised the importance of ensuring manager Steve Cooper has the necessary resources to secure Premier League survival.

“You’ve got to give the manager the squad to try and stay in the Premier League. Survival is the minimum for them,” he noted.

“They’d rather have the resources and the budget to fight these points deductions in the top league.”

Despite acknowledging Skipp as a valuable addition, Wyness remains convinced that Leicester is preparing for another significant sale before the window closes.

“I think they know there will be another sale to drop in the final days of the window. That will be pretty far down the road, I would’ve thought,” he concluded.

As the transfer deadline approaches, Leicester fans will be anxiously waiting to see if Wyness’s prediction comes true and who might be the next to leave the club.
