Everton were offered a swap deal by Chelsea before the transfer deadline that included Axel Disasi and David Datro Fofana, according to a report from GiveMeSport. The proposal was part of Chelsea’s late bid to acquire Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but it was ultimately rejected by Everton.
The report, dated 2 September, reveals that Chelsea were keen to offload the combined £110,000-a-week wages of Disasi and Fofana.
However, Everton, having recently signed defender Jake O’Brien, did not prioritize bringing in another centre-back. Additionally, there were doubts about Fofana’s ability to adequately replace Calvert-Lewin’s contributions up front.
While the swap deal was turned down, Everton did manage to secure a last-minute loan deal for Chelsea’s Armando Broja. According to the Liverpool Echo, this deal will not cost Everton anything until Broja is fit and available for selection.
Martina Piemonte has departed Everton Women to join Lazio in a permanent transfer, as confirmed by the Italian club on their official website.
The 26-year-old striker, who signed a two-year deal with Everton in 2023, struggled to establish herself as a regular in the first team, prompting her return to Italy.
Piemonte’s exit from Merseyside seems to be a move that benefits all parties involved. A move back to Italy with Lazio offers her the chance to revitalise her career during its peak years, likely providing the regular playing time she needs.
