Grinning Ally McCoist aims cheeky DIG at Celtic fans on his Birthday after what they did as he was being serenaded by Newcastle fans

A grinning Ally McCoist was treated to a birthday serenade by Newcastle United fans, and the Rangers legend was quick to respond with a cheeky Celtic joke.

McCoist, who has become a popular figure in England thanks to his work on talkSPORT and his commentary gigs, was warmly embraced by the Toon Army ahead of Newcastle’s Premier League clash with Manchester City.

The fans gathered in a bar outside St James’ Park, where McCoist and fellow commentator Darren Fletcher were stationed.

With McCoist celebrating his 62nd birthday, the announcer encouraged the crowd to join in and sing for the former Scotland star.

After the impromptu sing-song, McCoist couldn’t resist a joke, saying: “Thank you very much guys. That was greatly appreciated. However, there were two Celtic supporters up there not singing. That was poor, we will need to get them out guys.”

It was another light-hearted moment for McCoist, whose banter and humour continue to win him fans beyond Scotland.
