West Ham United parted ways with David Moyes in May, bringing an end to a four-and-a-half-year tenure at the London Stadium.
Despite the ups and downs, Moyes achieved notable success, with the pinnacle being the club’s Europa Conference League triumph in 2023.
Moyes was officially replaced by Julen Lopetegui on July 1st, but just months later, the Scot has already been linked with a potential return to the club. However, it seems unlikely many Hammers fans would welcome him back to East London.
That said, Moyes could find himself back in the Premier League sooner than expected, as one of West Ham’s London rivals appears to be considering a managerial change.
Moyes in the Frame for Crystal Palace Job:
Moyes’s Premier League experience makes him an attractive option, despite the criticism he faced during his latter days with West Ham.
His reputation for stabilising teams, as seen during his spells at Everton and West Ham, remains strong. Furthermore, his European success last season showed he is capable of delivering silverware.
Now, according to Caught Offside, Crystal Palace are eyeing Moyes as a potential replacement for Oliver Glasner. The German manager, who enjoyed a strong campaign with Palace last season, is under increasing pressure after a dismal start to the current campaign.
The Eagles have managed just three draws and four defeats from their opening seven matches, leaving them 18th in the Premier League table. This decline has caught many by surprise, especially after Glasner’s impressive work last term.
Palace’s poor form has left the club’s hierarchy concerned, and unless results improve quickly, Moyes could be drafted in to steady the ship.
A New Challenge for Moyes?
If the move to Selhurst Park materialises, it would mark an intriguing new chapter for the former West Ham boss. Moyes’s pragmatic style could be exactly what Palace need to escape their current slump. However, whether the fans would embrace him is another matter.
With the pressure mounting on Glasner, the coming weeks will be critical for Palace. If Moyes does land the job, it will be fascinating to see how he fares in South London and whether he can rekindle his knack for stabilising struggling sides.
A return to the Premier League for Moyes seems increasingly likely—and it may not be long before we see him prowling the touchline once more.
