Nuno Santo reacts after HUMILIATING and Destroying former failed Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper 3-1 at his own backyard

Head coach Nuno Espírito Santo has urged Nottingham Forest fans to savour the moment after their 3-1 victory over Leicester City propelled the club to fifth place in the Premier League.

A brace from Chris Wood, along with a goal from Ryan Yates, extended Forest’s unbeaten run on the road to seven matches.

The Reds’ triumph at the King Power Stadium was met with jubilant celebrations in the away end, with supporters in fine voice throughout the evening.

Nuno, currently serving the second of a three-match touchline ban, missed Wood’s opener as he made his way from the dressing room to the stands. He was still inside watching on television when the striker netted his second goal in the 47th minute to give Forest a 2-1 lead.

Despite his side’s strong start to the season, Nuno is determined to keep expectations in check. However, he encouraged fans to enjoy their current position and the team’s progress.

“It’s true, (being fifth at this stage) doesn’t mean anything. What is important now is preparing for West Ham because it is going to be very tough,” Nuno said.

“The table is not what guides us. What guides us is how we do things and how we now have to correct details, because we conceded a goal. We are going to try to continue and try to improve.”

For Nuno, the highlight of the evening was witnessing the fans’ joy at the final whistle.

“What pleased me most was seeing our fans celebrate. Believe me, they have given us so much. To see them like that at the end of the match is what we play for.

“They should get excited, and they should enjoy it. Today was a beautiful day for us as a club, to come here in this special game, play this football, and win. Now we go back to Nottingham celebrating.”

Reflecting on the club’s journey, Nuno added:

“The fans have given us so much since we arrived. Let’s not forget where we’ve come from and how hard it was. Now is the moment for them to enjoy it. We try to give back all the support they have given us since we joined.”
