Graham Potter and David Moyes are both reportedly keen on succeeding Steve Cooper at Leicester City, according to sources at Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that both managers are actively seeking a return to the Premier League.
Moyes has been out of work since his departure from West Ham at the end of last season, while Potter has been without a job since being sacked by Chelsea in April 2023.
Both are said to be biding their time for the right opportunity, and Leicester’s ambition and structure have reportedly piqued their interest.
The club’s owners are also believed to be ready to back any new appointment financially, in a bid to steer Leicester clear of relegation.
O’Rourke disclosed that Potter had previously come close to taking the Leicester job but hesitated, paving the way for Cooper’s appointment. Now, with Cooper under mounting pressure, the spotlight is back on potential replacements.
Cooper’s tenure at the King Power Stadium has been turbulent. After securing just two wins in Leicester’s first 11 Premier League matches, his position has become increasingly precarious.
Football Insider has reported that a late equaliser from Jordan Ayew against Ipswich narrowly saved him from the sack earlier this season.
Concerns over Cooper’s style of play persist, with sources suggesting that influential figures within the club are growing impatient. Players, too, are reportedly struggling to adapt to Cooper’s approach, following the tactical shift from Enzo Maresca’s reign.
Leicester’s recent defeat to Manchester United leaves them 15th in the Premier League, sitting above Everton on goal difference and just four points clear of the relegation zone.
With both Potter and Moyes also linked to managerial vacancies at Wolves and Southampton, Leicester’s hierarchy may be forced to act swiftly if they wish to secure either candidate. The coming weeks could prove pivotal as the Foxes weigh their options in a bid to stabilise their season.
