Graham Potter is eager to return to management, with West Ham United among the clubs reportedly eyeing the former Brighton boss.
Alan Nixon, writing for The Sun on 16 November, revealed that Potter is “itching” for a new role after being overlooked by both Manchester United and England.
While Ajax has emerged as a potential suitor, Potter is said to favour a Premier League comeback, a development that could appeal to West Ham as they navigate a difficult season.
West Ham’s current manager, Julen Lopetegui, was appointed to replace David Moyes ahead of the 2024-25 campaign. The hope was that the Spaniard would elevate the club’s ambitions.
However, after 11 games, the Hammers sit 14th in the table, just five points clear of the relegation zone.
With only three league wins so far, pressure is mounting on Lopetegui. Fans have voiced their frustration, calling for his dismissal as the team struggles to find form under his leadership.
Despite the growing discontent, West Ham’s board remains steadfast in their support of Lopetegui.
The BBC reports that the club’s hierarchy is still “100 per cent behind” the manager as he attempts to turn the tide. However, his position may not be secure if results don’t improve significantly in the coming weeks.
In the event of a managerial change, West Ham chairman David Sullivan could consider Graham Potter as a replacement. Potter’s impressive work at Brighton, where he built a dynamic, competitive side, makes him an attractive candidate.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has also been linked, but Sullivan reportedly prefers other options. However, overlooking Potter’s credentials, as GiveMeSport suggests, might be a mistake given his proven track record in the Premier League.
