“It’s great that he’s gone away…” – Brendan Rodgers issues Final Stance on £8million inform Celtic star LEAVING Parkhead amid January transfer decision for Top-class ace with three goals, four assists

Brendan Rodgers has addressed the future of Alexandro Bernabei, the Argentinian defender currently out on loan at Internacional, and whether he might feature for Celtic again.

Bernabei, who joined the Hoops in 2022, has been a peripheral figure this season after heading to Brazil on a loan deal.

However, his performances for Internacional have caught the eye, with the 24-year-old playing 21 games across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing four assists.

Such form has sparked interest among Brazilian clubs, with Corinthians reportedly keen on a permanent transfer if Internacional doesn’t pursue one. A fee of £8 million has been mentioned, highlighting Bernabei’s rising stock.

Meanwhile, Celtic have been well-covered at left-back. Greg Taylor remains the first choice, demonstrating consistency and leadership, while Alex Valle, on loan from Barcelona, has impressed as a promising deputy.

When asked about Bernabei’s situation, Rodgers acknowledged the defender’s progress in Brazil but was non-committal about his future at Celtic.

Speaking to reporters, the manager said the player might be better suited to the South American footballing culture than the Scottish game.

“I think it’s great that he’s gone away and done well and sometimes you just find that,” Rodgers remarked.

“I think he’d been here for a period of time it hadn’t worked out as probably what he or the club would have wanted and sometimes that happens.

“You go away, you go back into a different culture or a different life and back into obviously South America for him, and the reports that I hear is that he’s done well.

“But there’s nothing more to add than that. He’ll finish his spell there and then we’ll look at that and see where that’s at come January.”

Bernabei has ‘done well’ on loan at Internacional.

Bernabei’s improved form poses an intriguing question for Celtic as the January transfer window approaches. While his time in Glasgow hasn’t been a success, his loan spell could yet provide a pathway for redemption—or a lucrative exit.
