The Dutchman, who left Manchester United earlier this month after a brief four-game spell as interim boss, is expected to bring fresh leadership to the King Power Stadium.
His short stint at Old Trafford included two victories over Leicester in the Carabao Cup and Premier League, showcasing his tactical acumen.
While Leicester have yet to confirm the appointment, first-team coach Ben Dawson is anticipated to face the media ahead of Saturday’s trip to Brentford.
Dawson, who joined Cooper’s backroom team in the summer, has been overseeing preparations in the interim.

Van Nistelrooy’s appointment would mark his second senior managerial role, having led PSV Eindhoven to KNVB Cup success during the 2022-23 season.
Leicester’s immediate fixture list includes Saturday’s visit to Brentford and a home clash with West Ham next Tuesday, which could serve as Van Nistelrooy’s debut at the King Power.
