Tony Cascarino has criticised Everton’s lack of creativity ahead of their crucial Premier League clash with Manchester United on Sunday.
Sean Dyche’s side head to Old Trafford for Ruben Amorim’s first league game in charge of United, with Everton desperate to improve their precarious position near the foot of the table.
Speaking on talkSPORT (1 December, 08:29am), Cascarino highlighted the Toffees’ struggles in front of goal this season.
“The fact is that you can say Everton are the lowest scorers in the Premier League, they’re not a team that takes it to you,” he said.
Calvert-Lewin under pressure
A glaring issue for Everton has been the lack of goals from their forwards. With four senior strikers in the squad, injuries have sidelined two for much of the campaign, but more was expected from Beto and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Everton are now the joint-lowest scorers in the league and sit just two points above the relegation zone. For a side with ambitions of climbing the table, such form is unsustainable.
Dyche’s future uncertain
The club’s off-field uncertainty looms large, with the impending Friedkin Group takeover raising questions about Sean Dyche’s future. Unless the manager can inspire a turnaround and get his squad firing, his position will come under serious scrutiny.
Saturday’s trip to Old Trafford could prove pivotal. While Everton have shown flashes of resilience under Dyche, they must find a way to convert chances into goals if they are to avoid being dragged further into the relegation battle.
The pressure is mounting, and with time running out, Everton need their attacking players—especially Calvert-Lewin—to step up and deliver.
