Nottingham Forest struck gold when they signed Murillo from Brazilian side Corinthians for a modest fee of £10.6 million.

Since making his Premier League debut against Brentford in October 2023, the central defender has been an ever-present figure in Forest’s top-flight campaign, cementing himself as a key part of the squad.

Murillo has quickly become a fan favourite, with his performances earning widespread praise.

Football legend Ian Wright even remarked that he’d “pay to watch Murillo,” and it’s no surprise that the Brazilian attracted significant interest during pre-season.

After a 3-0 victory over Gremio, Murillo sent a supportive message to his former teammate via Instagram, writing: “I am your fan bro.”

Alberto has a £66 million release clause in his contract, but reports suggest he could be available for around £25 million in January. With European football firmly in his sights, the striker could represent an ideal signing for Forest.

Forest are actively seeking a striker, and Murillo’s connection to Alberto could play a crucial role in bringing him to the City Ground.

Attempts to sign Santiago Gimenez in the summer fell through, and it’s unlikely the club will revisit that option.

Alberto, however, offers an affordable and exciting alternative. At just 23 years old, he has plenty of time to develop further and could thrive in Forest’s attacking system.
