Celtic defender Auston Trusty has admitted there was a sense of frustration in the dressing room after the Hoops’ 0-0 draw with Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.
Despite earning a valuable point on the road, Trusty revealed that the team had set their sights on all three.
Trusty, who has now helped Celtic secure back-to-back clean sheets away from home in the competition, has been a standout performer since his £6 million summer move from Sheffield United.
However, despite yet another impressive performance, Trusty expressed his disappointment with the lack of goals at the other end.
He said: (TNT Sports), “Yeah, we’ll take the point, but we came here for three.
“To get a point away from home is good, but we should have got all three.
“It was an opportunity for us to get three points, but we got one.”
Defensive Solidity, but Lacking Spark Up Front
Trusty’s partnership with Cameron Carter-Vickers has been a bright spot for Celtic this season, providing much-needed stability at the back.
This solidity marks a sharp contrast to the defensive frailties that saw the Hoops concede seven goals away to Borussia Dortmund earlier in the campaign.
However, against a Dinamo Zagreb side hampered by injuries and poor domestic form, Celtic failed to capitalise on their opportunities in attack.
While they controlled possession in midfield, their inability to create meaningful chances left them without a cutting edge in the final third.
Trusty has proven to be an excellent addition to Brendan Rodgers’ side, overcoming a slow start that included an underwhelming performance against Falkirk in the Premier Sports Cup.
His disappointment reflects the growing standards within the squad as they aim to make a mark in Europe.
A clean sheet away from home is commendable, but Celtic will know they missed a chance to secure a vital win in Croatia.
