Towards the end of the summer transfer window, Àlex Moreno joined Nottingham Forest from Aston Villa on a season-long loan.
Before signing for Forest, the 31-year-old was heavily linked with a return to Real Betis, where he spent over three years before moving to Aston Villa in January 2023.
According to Estadio Deportivo, Manuel Pellegrini was keen on bringing the left-back back to Betis, but the club couldn’t afford his high salary, even on a loan deal.
Instead, Betis signed Romain Perraud and Ricardo Rodríguez to fill the void at left-back. However, both players have struggled to impress, with reports suggesting the Spanish club is already considering parting ways with Rodríguez.
Since his move to Nottingham Forest, Moreno has made 12 appearances across all competitions. Despite his involvement, he was left out of the squad to face Manchester United at the weekend.
Manager Nuno Espírito Santo explained the decision, stating that Moreno had “reached his limit” after playing against Manchester City.
Furthermore, the Spaniard is ineligible to face Aston Villa this Saturday, prompting Nuno to explore other options.
However, Estadio Deportivo speculates that Moreno’s omission may not be purely tactical. The outlet highlights the timing of the decision, which coincided with Moreno’s social media interaction where he “lovingly responded”
