Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha has proven to be a versatile and effective player since joining the Premier League side.
The 25-year-old has excelled in various roles, including as an attacking midfielder, secondary striker, and centre-forward, showcasing his adaptability and quality.
Cunha has made an impressive start to the season, scoring seven goals and providing three assists in 15 appearances across all competitions.
After a difficult spell at Atlético Madrid, the Brazilian seems to have found his footing at Wolves, where he has accumulated 23 goals and 12 assists in 71 outings.
His performances have caught the eye of some of Europe’s top clubs, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly monitoring his progress.
Despite this interest, Cunha, whose contract runs until 2027, is reportedly content at Wolves and enjoying life in the Premier League.
However, according to Fichajes, Wolves could be tempted to cash in on their star player if an offer exceeding €70 million comes in.
Will Cunha reject a new Wolves contract?
Former Manchester United and Blackburn scout Mick Brown has suggested Cunha may turn down any contract extension from Wolves amid mounting interest from elite clubs. Speaking to Football Insider, Brown outlined the forward’s potential motivations.
“He’s definitely capable of stepping up from where he is,” Brown said.
“I’m not surprised Wolves seem to be doing everything they can to keep him there. But if they can’t, they’re likely to demand a big fee for him.
“From what I’ve heard, it doesn’t look like he’s going to sign a contract there at the moment. They’re in a relegation battle, so he won’t want to make a commitment at this stage, especially when you consider there are top teams interested in signing him.
“I would be surprised if he didn’t turn down any new contracts from Wolves to keep his options open.”
Cunha’s ability to perform despite Wolves’ struggles has only increased interest, leaving his future uncertain as the transfer window approaches.
