Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha has been charged by the Football Association (FA) following a post-match altercation after Wolves’ 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town at Molineux on December 14, 2024.
The incident involved Cunha confronting an Ipswich staff member, during which he allegedly struck the individual and removed their glasses.
The FA’s statement reads: “Matheus Cunha has been charged with misconduct following the Premier League match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town on Saturday, 14 December.
The forward allegedly acted in an improper manner after the final whistle. He has until Thursday, 19 December, to provide a response.”
This charge comes at a challenging time for Wolves, who are currently 19th in the Premier League with nine points from 16 games.
The defeat to Ipswich marked their fourth consecutive loss, intensifying pressure on the team and leading to the dismissal of head coach Gary O’Neil.
Reports suggest that former Porto boss Vitor Pereira is expected to be appointed as his replacement within the next 48 hours.
