Leicester have been linked with a move for Ben Godfrey, the versatile centre-back currently at Atalanta. The 26-year-old would bring much-needed pace and athleticism to a backline that has looked vulnerable all season.
Former England defender Rio Ferdinand once described Godfrey as “outstanding” during his time at Everton. Since moving to Atalanta in the summer, however, the Englishman has struggled for game time, making just four appearances.
With Wout Faes’ future uncertain and ageing defenders Conor Coady and Jannik Vestergaard in need of younger support, Godfrey represents a long-term solution. Leicester will likely find him attainable given his limited role in Italy.
Odsonne Edouard’s Loan Spell Cut Short
Leicester’s loan signing of Odsonne Edouard from Crystal Palace has been a disappointment. The French striker has played only 142 Premier League minutes this season, failing to make an impact and sitting firmly behind Jamie Vardy in the pecking order.
Crystal Palace are reportedly keen to sell Edouard permanently, and Leicester will be hoping the Eagles recall him in January. This would free up space for Van Nistelrooy to pursue another loan target, with Brighton’s promising forward Evan Ferguson a potential option.
