Just six months after his much-anticipated transfer to Stade Rennais, former Celtic winger Jota could be on the move again.
According to French outlet L’Équipe, the Portuguese star may be allowed to leave the Ligue 1 club during the January transfer window. The 25-year-old, who joined Rennes from Al-Ittihad for €8 million last summer, has struggled to make a significant impact in France.
Jota’s move to Rennes was seen as an opportunity to reignite his career following a disappointing stint in Saudi Arabia.
The winger was brought in with high expectations, having dazzled during his time at Celtic. However, his form in Ligue 1 has been underwhelming, with just one goal in nine appearances this season.
Competition for places in Rennes’ attack has proven stiff, leaving Jota with limited opportunities to establish himself. Reports indicate that the club is open to listening to offers, potentially ending his Rennes chapter prematurely if a suitable bid comes in.
