Everton midfielder Tim Iroegbunam is expected to remain sidelined until late January due to his ongoing recovery from an ankle injury, according to injury expert Dr. Rajpal Brar.
Brar explained that while progress is being made, Iroegbunam’s return to full training won’t happen until the new year, with additional time needed to build fitness before he can start games.
This timeline extends his absence, which began in October, after initial expectations for a quicker return were revised in November.
Speaking to Goodison News, Brar said:
“Based on Dyche’s comments, they are increasing the load and stress on his foot but it’s a very gradual process.
“Due to the nature of how stress responses work and how long he’s been out, I wouldn’t expect him back until after the turn of the New Year and not ready to start until the final week of January.“
Iroegbunam’s promising start at Everton
The 21-year-old had made a strong impression at Goodison Park following his move from Aston Villa, featuring in six league matches and adding much-needed agility and creativity to Everton’s midfield.
His absence has been a setback for both the player and manager Sean Dyche, who viewed him as a valuable asset in the squad.
Everton will be hoping Iroegbunam’s return to training goes smoothly, allowing him to make a meaningful contribution to the remainder of the season.
