Nottingham Forest’s upcoming clash with Arsenal is expected to be rescheduled by a day to prevent Nuno Espirito Santo’s side from facing two critical matches within a 48-hour period.
As it stands, Forest, currently third in the Premier League and just two points behind Arsenal, are set to visit Newcastle on February 23 before hosting Arsenal in an evening kick-off at the City Ground two days later.
With Newcastle sitting three points behind Forest and in excellent form, these back-to-back fixtures could prove to be pivotal moments in Forest’s season.
The tight turnaround would pose a significant challenge for Espirito Santo’s men, who will need to be at their best against two of the league’s toughest opponents.
Forest eye Yoane Wissa as January window heats up:
Away from the fixture congestion, Forest are showing serious interest in Brentford forward Yoane Wissa as the January transfer window enters its final stages.
Wissa has been one of the Premier League’s standout attackers this season, boasting 11 goals and two assists, which has caught the attention of several top clubs.
While Brentford manager Thomas Frank has ruled out selling Bryan Mbeumo this month, the club may be open to offers for Wissa.
However, Forest’s pursuit of the Congolese forward is contingent on offloading Taiwo Awoniyi.
Currently a backup to top scorer Chris Wood, Awoniyi has attracted interest from West Ham, which could facilitate Forest’s move for Wissa.
Contract talks remain a priority:
