Wolverhampton Wanderers have been actively working to secure the signing of RC Lens’ Kevin Danso over the past week.
Initially, reports from the French press indicated that Wolves had tabled a €20m offer, which did not meet the expectations of the Ligue 1 club.
Two days ago, L’Equipe suggested that Jorge Mendes could play a role in helping the English club secure Danso on loan during the winter transfer window. Shortly after, Juventus also made a loan approach for the central defender.
On Friday, L’Equipe reported that RC Lens president Joseph Oughourlian and Danso’s representatives are leaning toward a move to Wolves, while Italian sources claimed that Juventus were on the verge of signing the player.
However, Foot Mercato now reveals that Juventus’ negotiations with Lens for the Austrian international have fallen through. This development not only renews hope for Vítor Pereira’s side but also places them ‘back in pole position’ to land Danso.
Stade Rennais have also expressed interest in the Lens defender, but the report states that Danso prefers a move to Molineux, as he is keen on returning to the Premier League.
The Austrian is expected to join Wolves on a dry loan deal until the end of the season, meaning there will be no purchase option included.
This move is seen as an opportunity for Danso to showcase his abilities in the Premier League ahead of a potential transfer in the summer.
Foot Mercato adds that while the operation to bring Danso to Wolves is not yet finalized, it is well ‘on the way’.
