Everton are set to announce Carlos Alcaraz’s arrival from Flamengo on Monday night, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Posting on his personal X account at 9:04pm on transfer deadline day (3 February), Romano reported that Everton are finalizing the last details of the 22-year-old midfielder’s loan move to Goodison Park.
It is understood that the loan deal for the ex-Southampton player will include an obligation-to-buy clause worth £12.4m plus add-ons.
Romano adds that the permanent deal will be activated after a “high number of starts.”
Flamengo announced on Saturday that they had agreed to let Alcaraz join Everton on a loan-to-buy basis. However, with less than two hours remaining until the transfer window closes at 11pm, the Merseyside club has yet to officially confirm the move.

Romano has made some differing claims about the terms of the Alcaraz deal compared to what has been previously reported.
Firstly, he states that the deal will become permanent after David Moyes starts the Argentinian midfielder a significant number of times. However, reports from South America suggest that Alcaraz will become a full-time Everton player after just eight appearances.
That’s hardly a “high” number, especially with Everton still having 15 Premier League matches left this season, meaning only an injury could potentially disrupt the agreement.
Romano also mentions that the deal is worth £12.4million plus add-ons.
However, Brazilian news outlets indicate that Flamengo will receive around £15million for the midfielder, which is the amount they paid Southampton for him last year.
While these are minor discrepancies, it will be interesting to see the actual terms of the deal once confirmed.
Further details are likely to emerge once the move is finalized before 11pm on Monday night, or on Tuesday (4 February) after the dust has settled.
