Celtic have reached a loan agreement with Crystal Palace for Jeffrey Schlupp, with the seasoned 32-year-old scheduled to undergo a medical in London tonight before finalizing his transfer to Parkhead.
As the January transfer window is set to close at 11pm tonight (February 3), the Hoops are making their last-minute moves, and Schlupp’s addition would bring much-needed versatility as Brendan Rodgers bolsters his squad for the remainder of the season.
Schlupp, capable of playing as a left-back, winger, or central midfielder, has long been on Rodgers’ radar, having been previously linked with a move to Celtic last summer.
Rodgers himself was seen at Glasgow Airport earlier today, reportedly en route to London Heathrow.
Celtic have been busy in the final hours of the transfer window, with reports indicating that Rodgers is pushing for a move for Motherwell’s Lennon Miller. However, Miller is expected to remain at Motherwell.
Meanwhile, Daniel Cummings is poised to depart for West Ham.
With Schlupp’s move nearing completion, Celtic are bolstering their squad with Premier League experience as they prepare for a pivotal second half of the season.
This development also suggests that a deal for Tierney is unlikely this window, following the agreement of a pre-contract between the two parties ahead of the summer.
