Matheus Cunha is on the verge of signing a new long-term contract with Wolves, talkSPORT reports.

The deal is said to be almost finalized, with the forward set to commit his future to the club imminently.

Cunha had been linked with a move away in the January transfer window, with Arsenal and Manchester United reportedly interested.

These rumors gained traction when the player liked a social media post suggesting he could move to Old Trafford.

Speculation also connected him to Tottenham, with Jason Cundy previously tipping him for a move to a bigger club.

Speaking to talkSPORT in November, Cundy said:

“This boy has got so much quality.

“Ball at his feet, he travels at pace, there ain’t many players that can travel with the same pace with the ball at their feet than they can in a sprint.

“He will end up leaving Wolves, he’s going to end up being too good for them, he’s a top, top player.”

That speculation now looks set to be put to rest, at least for the near future.

Cunha has been in impressive form this season, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists in 19 Premier League appearances. His contributions have been vital in helping Wolves climb out of the relegation zone.

Securing Cunha on a new long-term contract will be a significant boost for Wolves and their recently appointed manager, Vitor Pereira.

With the team sitting precariously close to the drop zone at the halfway point of the season, keeping key players like Cunha will be essential. Fans will be hopeful that his continued presence and influence can help steer the club to Premier League safety.
