However, according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the club may already be planning for the worst.
Reporting for Sky CH, Tavolieri claims that Leicester defender Wout Faes has reached an agreement with the club to leave in the summer if an “interesting offer” comes in.
While the potential departure of Faes might not come as a shock, the reasoning behind it raises eyebrows. The journalist suggests the decision stems from financial concerns, as Leicester allegedly begins to prepare for the financial impact of possible relegation.
Tavolieri reports:
“Financial necessity is already pushing the English leaders to anticipate the disaster and therefore to establish the first discussions with the players likely to be sold, a list which includes… Wout Faes.
“If we follow this scenario linked to the possible relegation of the English club, Wout Faes could then leave the Premier League at half the price of his market value.”
Italian club Lazio is mentioned as a potential suitor for Faes, with the report suggesting there will likely be widespread interest in the Belgian defender. However, such claims could be interpreted as an effort to spark further attention.
Leicester City are far from being relegated at this point, making the situation frustrating for fans. The idea that a player’s representatives—or even the player himself—might already be seeking new opportunities while the club is still fighting for survival feels untimely and disheartening.
Despite the speculation, Leicester’s fate remains in their hands, and the focus should be on securing their place in the Premier League rather than entertaining exit strategies for key players like Faes.
