Celtic are expected to freshen up their squad this January transfer window, potentially even rekindling ties with familiar faces if the rumors surrounding Kieran Tierney and Jota prove true. However, their first move appears to be an outgoing transfer, one that many fans likely anticipated.

The player in question is Alexandro Bernabei, who has impressed during his loan spell with SC Internacional in Brazil.

After being hailed as the best left-back in the Brazilian league, it seems his performances have earned him a permanent deal with the club.

While some Celtic fans may have hoped to see Bernabei given a second chance at Parkhead, recent reports indicate that won’t be the case.

According to Uriel Lugt, Internacional have finalized a deal with Celtic for the Argentine defender, with a contract set to keep him at the club until December 2028.

Celtic initially signed Bernabei from Lanus during Ange Postecoglou’s tenure. Though he showed potential as an attacking full-back, his defensive frailties and off-field issues raised concerns.

Unfortunately, those problems persisted even after Brendan Rodgers took charge, leaving Bernabei unable to secure a place in the squad.

During his loan spell at Internacional, however, Bernabei exceeded expectations, prompting the Brazilian side to push for a permanent deal.

Celtic have reportedly agreed to transfer the player for a fee of around €7 million—a substantial return for a player who failed to live up to expectations in Scotland.

While Bernabei’s departure may not surprise fans, the transfer fee represents a solid piece of business for Celtic as they look to reinvest in their squad this January.

    • There’s a high chance they will both comeback, however it might not be the January transfer window for the two.

I reckon one may arrive January, and the other in the summer, or maybe both. But either way, we are going to get a return from ONE of them atleast this year as both players are open to coming back. It’s now down to Celtic to get a deal done.
