Leicester City anticipated being linked with several Manchester United players during the January transfer window.
Ruud van Nistelrooy, a legend at Man United for his on-field achievements, also left a mark during his time as interim manager of the Red Devils.
However, the 48-year-old parted ways with Old Trafford in November, making way for Ruben Amorim to take over. Since then, van Nistelrooy has leveraged his connections with United to identify potential targets for Leicester City.
One of those targets was Toby Collyer, a highly-rated midfielder who developed under Amorim’s guidance.
Leicester reportedly placed Collyer on their radar as early as December. Similarly, Harry Amass emerged as a left-back option for the Foxes, who are battling at the bottom of the Premier League.

Fabrizio Romano claims Victor Lindelof isn’t interested in Leicester City
Last month, football insider Fabrizio Romano reported that Leicester had shown interest in United defender Victor Lindelof, whose contract is set to expire in 2025.
Despite this, no formal discussions took place, as the Swedish centre-back is carefully evaluating his future and timing his departure from Old Trafford.
Van Nistelrooy, who has been keen to bolster Leicester’s defence, saw Lindelof as a prime target due to his Premier League experience. However, Romano has now provided an update, revealing that the 30-year-old is not interested in joining Leicester’s relegation fight.
“For Leicester, despite the links we had with Victor Lindelof, I’m not sure the player is keen on leaving Man United to go to Leicester in January. But just in general, I think Leicester will be busy in the January,” Romano told GiveMeSport.

The transfer window has been a frustrating time for Leicester fans. The club is second from bottom in the Premier League, faces a potential points deduction for breaching PSR rules, and has yet to secure a single signing.

“We’re in the middle of the process,” the Leicester manager stated in a press conference.
“It’s clear where we want to strengthen. We’re working on that day and night. I feel a strong responsibility to get the right players in.
“It’s a delicate process. It takes time. It requires a lot of effort and work to bring in the right players.
“We’ve been creating a style of play and players who fit into that are the profiles who can get us to better results.
“Those are the profiles we have been talking about with recruitment and the people responsible for signing these players. It started in December and hopefully we can present something soon.”
Securing players who fit both the playing style and the club’s values is never easy. With rival teams strengthening their squads, the pressure is mounting on Leicester to complete their business before the transfer deadline.
