Trabzonspor has set their sights on Celtic left-back Greg Taylor as a potential replacement for former Rangers defender Borna Barisic.
The Parkhead defender, whose contract expires this summer, is attracting attention from several clubs. With his deal nearing its end, Taylor is now free to engage with interested parties.
Turkish side Trabzonspor is the latest club to express interest, joining a growing list of suitors that includes Spanish outfit Espanyol and English Championship sides Hull City and QPR.
Despite the interest, Taylor’s preference is clear, as previously reported by Mail Sport. If he does leave Celtic, either in January or at the end of the season, he’d favor remaining in Europe.
However, his priority remains staying at the Glasgow club, where he’s happy under the management of Brendan Rodgers.
The Scotland international is currently in discussions with Celtic regarding a new contract, but no agreement has been reached yet. Reports suggesting Taylor is demanding £25,000-a-week to stay have been dismissed as inaccurate.
Negotiations have also been complicated by Celtic’s interest in a reunion with Arsenal full-back and former star Kieran Tierney.
While Taylor remains open to extending his stay, his position has been impacted by the club’s pursuit of additional reinforcements in his role.
Meanwhile, Taylor has no shortage of alternatives. Alongside Trabzonspor, Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb are still keen to secure his signature.
Trabzonspor, in particular, is eager to bring him in to replace Barisic, who has struggled to cement his place in the Turkish side’s starting lineup.
