Hearts have confirmed the signing of 18-year-old midfielder Aiden Haddow from Celtic B, with the young talent penning a contract that will keep him at the Edinburgh club until the summer of 2026.
The January transfer sees Haddow make the move to Tynecastle after an agreement was reached between the clubs, avoiding the need for FIFA-mandated training compensation.
The announcement was made on Hearts’ official website, with Hearts B Team manager Angus Beith sharing his excitement about the signing. Beith highlighted Haddow’s potential and work ethic, stating:
“Aiden is a very exciting young player, who will add further competition to our midfield. Technically, he is excellent, but more importantly, he has that hunger and desire to learn and keep improving his game. I’m delighted he’s with us and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Haddow has been a key figure for Celtic’s B Team, featuring regularly in the Lowland League and UEFA Youth League.
However, with senior midfield positions at Celtic occupied by the likes of Callum McGregor and Reo Hatate, opportunities for first-team football were limited, making the move a logical step in his progression.
For Hearts, Haddow’s arrival strengthens their B Team with a player already experienced at a competitive level, providing both depth and potential for the future.
While Celtic lose a promising academy product, the transfer highlights the challenges young players face in breaking into a first team stacked with established stars.
