Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd found himself at the center of controversy once again after Celtic’s commanding 4-1 victory over Ross County in the Scottish Premiership.
Boyd’s latest remarks, particularly his suggestion that Alistair Johnston should have been sent off during the penalty incident, raised more than a few eyebrows.
Chris Sutton, Boyd’s fellow pundit, couldn’t hide his disbelief at the claim. Sutton dismissed the idea outright, arguing that there was no justification for a red card in such a scenario.
His reaction was a mix of bemusement and laughter, highlighting the absurdity of Boyd’s assertion.
Boyd, however, stuck to his stance, his unwavering bias towards Rangers shining through yet again.
For many viewers, it’s becoming increasingly tiresome to witness his partiality on display during discussions about Celtic.

Interestingly, Boyd also managed to take a dig at Rangers fans before the game. When host Eilidh Barbour mentioned the freezing temperatures in Dingwall the night before, Boyd joked about it being “-15,” perhaps in reference to the chilly reception Rangers have received from their own supporters lately.
Whether this was a clumsy attempt to win back favor with the Rangers faithful or just another ill-considered remark, it certainly added to the drama.
A Questionable Call
Boyd’s insistence on Johnston deserving a red card for what was little more than a routine challenge baffled many. The push in question seemed minor at best, making his suggestion seem out of touch with the reality of the game.
As the saying goes, sometimes it’s better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt—a lesson Boyd might want to consider after this latest gaffe.
Celtic Marching On
Meanwhile, Celtic fans had plenty to celebrate, as their team extended its lead over Rangers to 18 points.
Attention now shifts to the Ibrox side’s clash with St Johnstone, where fans are reportedly planning to stage a walkout on the 55th minute in protest against manager Philippe Clement.
It seems even Boyd couldn’t resist poking fun at his own club’s supporters, as they continue to wrestle with internal turmoil while Celtic march confidently towards another Premiership title.
