Wolves have advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup after securing a 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

Goals from Joao Gomes and Matheus Cunha sealed the win for Wanderers, capping off a strong performance from Vitor Pereira’s side in Lancashire.

Wolves initially struggled to find their rhythm, with the uneven pitch and windy conditions making accurate passing difficult. However, Joao Gomes broke the deadlock following a well-executed play by Hwang Hee-chan, and Matheus Cunha doubled the lead shortly after.

The match featured several standout performances from Wolves players, with many fans particularly impressed by Marshall Munetsi’s debut.

Cunha was named Player of the Match by Chris Sutton, who provided co-commentary for BBC Sport. However, Sutton also took the time to praise another Wolves star.

Emmanuel Agbadou continued his impressive run of form for Wolves in the 2-0 win over Blackburn. Since joining from Reims, the Ivorian has played every minute for the club, quickly earning the trust of manager Vitor Pereira.

Agbadou once again anchored the back three, as he did in the previous match against Aston Villa, delivering another solid defensive display. The 27-year-old was a rock at the back and showed significant improvement in his distribution, completing 64 out of 72 passes (89%) according to Sofascore.

His composure has brought stability to a previously shaky Wolves defense, and his contributions have not gone unnoticed by Chris Sutton.

During the second half, as Agbadou won a free-kick for Wolves, Sutton remarked (via BBC iPlayer): “You talk about good additions, Agbadou has been excellent this afternoon. I always felt with Wolves in terms of the Premier League, they’re too good to go down.”

Later, while naming Cunha as his Player of the Match, Sutton added: “I think Agbadou has been exceptional at the back for Wolves.”

Wolves signed Agbadou from Reims for just over £16 million one month ago, and he is already proving to be worth every penny. The defender has made six appearances so far, showcasing his quality and adaptability to the English game.

Agbadou’s impact has been immediate, earning him Wolves’ Player of the Month award for January. Fans are excited to see how much more he can develop as he continues to settle into the team.

Club legend Steve Bull has described Agbadou as “an unbelievable player,” and it’s clear that the Ivorian has the potential to be a game-changer for Wolves.
