Celtic have reportedly agreed a record-breaking deal to sign Premier League star to Parkhead in the summer.

Kieran Tierney has reportedly agreed to a landmark deal with Celtic, making him the highest-paid player at the club, sources have informed Football Insider.

On the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke disclosed that the 27-year-old will not earn “anywhere near” his current Arsenal salary but will still break all wage records at Parkhead.

Celtic maintains a strict wage structure, as the Scottish giants rarely offer massive salaries, especially compared to the Premier League’s elite. This is why Tierney has accepted a “substantial pay cut” to rejoin his boyhood club.

Despite the reduction, the Scotland international is set to become the club’s top earner and will also receive a significant signing-on fee as he prepares for his return north of the border.

Brendan Rodgers sees the experienced defender as a key addition who can elevate the squad, making the financial investment worthwhile.

Rodgers is focused on strengthening his team across the board as he aims to drive the club to greater success in European competitions.

Although Tierney is set to earn a high wage upon his return to Celtic, well-placed sources have told Football Insider that this should not create tension within the current squad.

Other players are also expected to be rewarded, with Cameron Carter-Vickers and Callum McGregor already among the club’s top earners.

Rodgers views this as a strategic move to push the club forward, acknowledging that attracting top talent to Scotland often requires competitive wages.

The full-back has proven his quality at the highest level, having made 129 appearances for Arsenal during his time with the Gunners.

However, Tierney has struggled for game time recently, featuring in just five matches across all competitions this season.

During his first spell at Celtic, Tierney demonstrated his ability to excel in Scottish football, making 170 appearances and establishing himself as a standout performer.
