Rangers key player has reportedly made a decision about his future at Ibrox after consulting with a Rangers teammate.

Ianis Hagi has been a crucial figure for Rangers since Philippe Clement reintegrated him into the squad, contributing three goals and seven assists in 16 Scottish Premiership appearances this season.

However, the Romanian international’s future at the Glasgow club remains uncertain as he enters the final five months of his contract. After being sidelined by Clement earlier in the season, Hagi appears to be considering a move away from the Light Blues this summer.

Fenerbahce are reportedly interested in signing Hagi on a free transfer ahead of next season and have already initiated preliminary talks with the player, according to TGRT Haber.

The Turkish outlet also revealed on Tuesday (18 February) that the 26-year-old has ‘consulted’ Ridvan Yilmaz about the possibility of joining Fenerbahce.

After receiving positive feedback from the Turkey international, Hagi is now prioritizing a move to Fenerbahce in the summer.

This development follows approval from his father, Gheorghe Hagi, a Galatasaray legend, who has already given his blessing for the transfer.

Meanwhile, Hagi has reportedly turned down a contract extension from Rangers as he seeks a more ambitious project outside of Scotland, leaving Clement’s side resigned to the likelihood of losing him.

It’s important to note that Yilmaz has no direct ties to Fenerbahce. The left-back came through the ranks at Besiktas, Fenerbahce’s Super Lig rivals, and made 62 first-team appearances for them before joining Rangers in 2022.

However, as a seven-time Turkey international, the 23-year-old is arguably better positioned than any other Rangers player to offer Hagi advice on a potential move to Fenerbahce.

This explains why Yilmaz would provide the Romanian with a glowing endorsement of one of Turkey’s most prominent clubs.

The news is far from ideal for Rangers, as they face the prospect of losing another player on a free transfer.

The Premiership giants have struggled to secure significant transfer fees for their players in recent years, and it seems this trend will continue with Hagi’s impending departure.
