Brendan Rodgers is on the brink of securing his third domestic treble with Celtic this season – and his first since returning to the club in 2023.
The 52-year-old Celtic boss has also guided his team to impressive performances in the Champions League, progressing from the league phase and putting up a valiant fight against Bayern Munich in the knockout stages earlier this month.
Rodgers, who is under contract at Parkhead until June 2026, took over from Ange Postecoglou – who left for Tottenham after a successful stint in Scotland.
Keith Wyness, former CEO of Aberdeen and a seasoned football executive with stints at Everton and Aston Villa, has suggested that Rodgers “would love” to follow in Postecoglou’s footsteps and leave Celtic for a new challenge.
‘Liverpool Still Speak Fondly of Brendan Rodgers’
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed that Rodgers “still has time” to make an impact at a higher level.
Rodgers, who previously managed Liverpool and Swansea, initially left Celtic in 2019 to join Leicester City, where he won the FA Cup and Community Shield before being dismissed two years ago.

Wyness suggested that even a club like Bayern Munich, which has faced challenges in recent seasons, could benefit from Rodgers’ experience and tactical acumen.
He told Football Insider’s Insider Track podcast: “The performance against Bayern Munich was excellent, they astounded the critics and everyone.
“Brendan has finally shown that he can mix it with the big boys at Celtic.
“Everyone I’ve spoken to about him, right the way back to his time with Liverpool, has such a high regard for him and his football intellect.
“It’s always surprised me that he’s not come to the top. Everyone says he’s very bright, very hardworking and innovative.
“People in football have always had a high opinion of him, but that hasn’t matched his level of success.
“He was harshly treated at Liverpool and didn’t go on to great success elsewhere.
“He’s still got time and I think his next appointment could be the one. I think other clubs will be looking at him now.
“Clubs like Bayern Munich, who have fallen down the ladder a bit, could even look at someone like him.
“I think he’d love to move on from Celtic now if he gets a bigger offer.”
‘Newcastle Could Snatch Kuhn Away from Celtic’
Rodgers isn’t the only figure at Celtic attracting attention, with Nicolas Kuhn also making waves in his second season at the club.
Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider (22 February) that Newcastle United could make a £25 million bid for Kuhn this summer.
The German winger could follow in the footsteps of Matt O’Riley, who made a high-profile move to Brighton in 2024, as the latest Celtic star to make the leap to the Premier League.
Kuhn, 25, has been in scintillating form this season, contributing 18 goals and 12 assists in 39 appearances across all competitions. His performances have not gone unnoticed, and a big-money move could be on the horizon if Newcastle or other suitors come calling.
