‘DEAL CONFIRMED as per Jacob Bens’ – Top-class Player confirms he will be at Elland Road to secure promotions to the Premier League and be a starter for Daniel Farke’s men next season

The 49ers face several crucial decisions in the coming weeks and months, with a number of Leeds United players approaching the end of their contracts this summer and next.

As it stands, Sam Byram, Junior Firpo, and Josuha Guilavogui are set to see their deals expire in June. All three remain integral to Daniel Farke’s squad, with Firpo recently scoring two goals in two games for Leeds.

Leeds’ goalkeeping trio of Illan Meslier, Karl Darlow, and Alex Cairns are all under contract until the summer of 2026. Meanwhile, Dan James and Patrick Bamford will see their contracts run out in 15 months.

This leaves plenty of work for The 49ers to address. While Paraag Marathe and The 49ers are currently focused on finalizing a deal to acquire Rangers, there are pressing matters at Leeds, particularly with Meslier’s future coming into focus.

Illan Meslier makes decision on Leeds United future:

The French goalkeeper has had a challenging season. Despite keeping 20 clean sheets in 35 Championship appearances, Meslier has conceded goals in Leeds’ last three games against Sheffield United, Sunderland, and West Brom.

Daniel Farke has defended Meslier amid criticism for errors in matches against Hull, Preston, and the first encounter with Sunderland. Now, Ben Jacobs has provided an update on Meslier’s future via Give Me Sport.

The transfer expert reports that Meslier has decided he wants to stay at Leeds this summer and remain the club’s first-choice goalkeeper in the Premier League. However, this is contingent on Leeds securing promotion.

The 49ers are yet to make a decision on Illan Meslier’s future:

This is understandable. Meslier has been Leeds’ starting goalkeeper since the club’s promotion to the Premier League, and he excelled in the top flight until the final months before relegation.

However, the Championship has proven to be a tough environment, and Meslier has struggled at times. Leeds must now decide whether to trust him as their first-choice goalkeeper if they return to the Premier League or pursue a new option.

The club is reportedly keeping its options open, with links to players like Aaron Ramsdale. If they choose to back Meslier, a new contract will be necessary to secure his long-term future.
