Celtic have reportedly taken significant steps to resolve their goalkeeper situation by having a bid accepted for Fenerbahce’s Dominik Livakovic.
According to Turkish outlet Fotomac, the Scottish Premiership champions have secured an agreement for the Croatian international, aiming to fill the crucial gap left by Joe Hart’s retirement following the Scottish Cup Final victory over Rangers.
Brendan Rodgers has been on the hunt for a top-class replacement, and Livakovic appears to be the chosen solution. The 28-year-old, currently representing Croatia at Euro 2024, has reportedly expressed his desire to leave Fenerbahce after a successful title-winning campaign. Livakovic only joined the Turkish club a year ago from Dinamo Zagreb, but now seems poised for a move to Glasgow.
The reported fee for Livakovic stands at €9 million (£7.6 million), a significant investment for Celtic. This move could be a shrewd piece of business, given Livakovic’s calibre and experience on the European stage.
Interestingly, Fenerbahce, managed by Jose Mourinho, has already prepared for Livakovic’s departure by lining up Juventus’ Mattia Perin as his successor. A €3 million “agreement in principle” has reportedly been reached to bring the Italian to Turkey next season.
