Yves Bissouma was sent off again for Tottenham last night, and pundit David Prutton slammed the midfielder for his challenge.
Bissouma flew over the ball and left a big mark on Forest midfielder Ryan Yates’ foot. After first receiving a yellow card, VAR ordered an on-field review and Bissouma was immediately given his marching orders.
For Tottenham’s centre-forward, it was another big blow to his season, and he will effectively be out until 2024 due to his participation in AFCON.
Bissouma was a key player under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou. The new Spurs coach has got the centre-forward up and running after he initially struggled since signing for £25 million from Brighton.
However, former Nottingham Forest midfielder David Prutton, who watched Bissouma receive a red card last night, was far from impressed, describing Spurs’ actions as “appalling”.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, Prutton slammed Bissouma for his tackle.
“In my opinion it’s a red card. It’s a terrible attack. You can’t discuss it. It has to be a red card. Just looking at the face of Ange Postecoglou is an expression of guilt for Yves Bissouma,” said Prutton.
Bissouma needs to think about Tottenham as a whole:
Tottenham is already hampered enough by some big injuries, so the last thing it needs is for players to be ruled out and miss a big chunk of playing time as a result.
Ultimately, Bissouma and some of the other players in the Spurs squad need to think about things a lot more. It is not just about them as individuals, but also about the lack of discipline that is starting to show in the Spurs.
Gary Neville has criticised the whole team for its lack of composure, and it is hard to argue with that assessment.
As Prutton also says, Bissouma was a terrific challenge this time and until Spurs take that out of their game, they will struggle to really challenge.
