“I can’t say if I’ll be at Rangers or somewhere else, my future depends on…” – Top-class star’s EXIT from Rangers can now be fast-tracked after what happened in last 24-hours

Ianis Hagi’s early exit from Euro 2024, following Romania’s defeat to the Netherlands on 2 July, could expedite his departure from Rangers.

The 25-year-old, who joined Ibrox four years ago, seems to have played his final game for the club. Last season, Hagi was loaned to Alaves, but after a disappointing campaign, it appears unlikely that Philippe Clement will want him back in the squad. By his own admission, the Romanian winger is not keen on staying at Ibrox for the upcoming season.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun on 6 June, Hagi said:

“My focus is on the Euros. I had talks with my agents and the pressure is on them. They know what I want for my future, it’s a pretty important summer for me from all points of view. I told them before going to the national team what I wanted. I expect them to work as well as possible, to find the right team and the right manager for me. I can’t say if I’ll be at Rangers or somewhere else. My future depends on my agents.”

Hagi’s agents can now begin working on securing his exit from Rangers. Despite his desire for a new challenge, his performances at Euro 2024 could enhance his value in the transfer market. His contributions to Romania’s group stage success may attract interest from clubs across Europe.

While Rangers may be open to letting him go, they will likely seek a fair transfer fee for the 25-year-old, considering his potential and the two years remaining on his contract. Hagi’s agents will need to find a club that aligns with his aspirations and offers a suitable financial package for Rangers.

As the transfer window progresses, the next steps for Hagi will become clearer. His future at Ibrox or elsewhere hinges on the outcome of these negotiations. It’s fair to say that Clement is unlikely to include a player who is poised to leave in his pre-season plans.
