Max Kilman is set to undergo a medical at West Ham on Friday, 5 July, after Wolves accepted a new bid for the defender, sources have told Football Insider.
The Hammers have secured the green light to finalise the transfer for the 27-year-old after submitting a £40million offer. West Ham and Kilman have already agreed on personal terms.
The deal is expected to be completed within the next 48 hours, reuniting Kilman with Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium. West Ham initially had a £25million bid for Kilman rejected last month but have now reached an agreement with Wolves.
Kilman played every minute in the Premier League for Wolves last season and made 44 appearances in all competitions, having been named captain last summer.
Kilman only signed a new contract with Wolves last August, extending his stay at Molineux until June 2028. He has made 151 appearances for the club since joining from Maidenhead United in 2018.
West Ham have already completed deals for Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham in this transfer window. Kilman made 24 appearances under new Hammers boss Lopetegui during the 2022-23 campaign before the Spaniard left Wolves 12 months ago.
The London club begins their Premier League campaign against Aston Villa on 17 August after finishing ninth last season.
Kilman is set to depart Molineux after six years at the club, having joined from non-League Maidenhead for £40,000 in August 2018. Maidenhead stand to benefit significantly from the transfer, with a sell-on clause thought to be between 15 and 20 percent.
Despite signing a long-term contract less than 12 months ago following interest from Napoli, Kilman’s move to West Ham appears imminent. The transfer will mark a significant addition to the Hammers’ squad as they aim to improve on their ninth-place finish from last term.
