Alan Shearer pushes Son Heung-min aside, names TWO surprise Spurs stars in Premier League team of the week – Do you agree with him?

Alan Shearer praises Guglielmo Vicario for his excellent performance in Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest and names Dejan Kulusevski in his Team of the Week.

Vicario was almost a complete unknown to the fans when he arrived in the Premier League in the summer, although his reputation in Serie A was growing fast.

The Italian has not made a single mistake since arriving in north London in the summer and his reputation is growing with every game.

Not only has he proved to be an excellent stopper, but he has also shown excellent judgement when he has come off his line and helped Ange Posteocoglou’s charges build their play from the back.

Vicario has been widely praised by pundits, with Jamie Carragher describing Tottenham’s number one as “sensational” last month (Sky Sports MNF via TEAMtalk).

Former goalkeepers in the Premier League have also raved about the Spurs player, with Paul Robinson recently admitting in Tottenham’s official podcast that he was impressed by the Italian.

Former Stoke City goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen told The Optus Sport Football Podcast a few weeks ago that he initially had some doubts about Vicario, but the former Empoli player convinced him and labelled him the best goalkeeper in the Premier League this season.

Shearer has now joined the long list of Vicari’s admirers as the Newcastle legend has been impressed by what the Tottenham man has produced at the City Ground.

Speaking after Spurs’ 2-0 win over Forest, the pundit told the Premier League website of the goalkeeper: “He made some stunning defences and deservedly scored a clean sheet.”

He added of Kulusevski: “He made a wonderful pass on Richarlison’s goal and finished superbly to secure the win for Spurs.”

Vicario’s defended shots are undoubtedly among the best in the world. If the Italian could improve on anything, it could be in his fouling, as he sometimes seems to be trapped in no-man’s land when going back for corner kicks.
