Manager tells Ange Postecoglou star Centre-back will not be returning back to Spurs after reports suggested Tottenham might be aiming to bring him back to the club after recent long term injury to Micky Van de Ven.
Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has been pleased with Joe Rodon’s performances and confirmed that the centre-back will remain at the club beyond the January transfer window.
According to reports, Rodon’s move to Leeds is a straight loan with no option or obligation to buy (Evening Standard).
Unlike his spell at Rennes last season, where he struggled for game time, the Welshman seems to be thriving at Leeds, having established himself as an indispensable part of the club’s backline.
The 26-year-old’s career had undoubtedly stagnated at Spurs over the last three years but based on the rave reviews he has received this season, it looks like he is getting his career back on track.
Rodon played all 90 minutes in Leeds’ 2-1 win over Plymouth Argyle on Saturday and was hailed for his performance by Leeds Live, who gave him a 9 out of 10 rating.
The outlet wrote about the centre-back: “Tremendous. Came into his own as the pressure was piled on in the final quarter of the match. Reduced Jamie Vardy to a spectator in the first half. Some massive slides, blocks and clearances in the second period.”
Farke also spoke about Rodon after the game, admitting that he has been pleased with the former Swansea man’s development.
Farke told Yorkshire Evening Post: “Joe will stay with us (beyond January). He’s an important player for my plans and it is important we have stability.
“I am happy and pleased with his development, he has to keep going and that’s important. So far so good but it is always about the next game. We have to make sure we are there with good performances and he has been brilliant so far.”
Even if Leeds do not win promotion back to the Premier League, Rodon will attract interest from a number of top-flight clubs next summer if he keeps performing the way he currently is.
