Mikel Arteta told 32 goals, 9 assists forward more dangerous than Saka, Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus will be an player.

Pundit Scott Minto is now convinced that Brentford’s Ivan Toney will be an Arsenal player under Mikel Arteta next season.

Minto was sharing his view on talkSPORT, and admitted that he’d almost given up hope of Toney joining his side, Chelsea.

The pundit thought Toney owed it to Brentford to stay until the end of the season, and then he’d be off.

Minto said: “Brentford fans know that it’s not a case of if he goes, it’s when he goes.

“I think he owes the club to stay until the end of the season, but then he’s gone.

“As much as I’d love to see him at Chelsea, I think he will be an Arsenal player next season.”

Of course, there’s already been so much speculation over Ivan Toney’s future.

The striker will return to competitive matches in the latter half of January, and many are convinced that he’ll be on the move.

Brentford have coped admirably without their talismanic striker, and circumstances may now be suited to a January departure.

A £60m price tag has been mooted previously, but that’s a figure that may increase given the level of interest.

Scott Minto thinks Ivan Toney will be an Arsenal player next season:

It’ll certainly be interesting to see how Arsenal approach the January transfer window.

Along with Ivan Toney, Arsenal are most often linked with Pedro Neto and Douglas Luiz – players said to be long-term targets.

And whilst a move for any of those trio would be a welcome one for Arsenal fans, there may be another position that is targeted.

Rather than a striker or central midfielder, a right back was said to be on the wishlist before the summer transfer window closed.

Jurrien Timber’s injury seems to dramatically change Mikel Arteta’s plans.

And there has now been a worrying update on his injury from Dutch Media over the international break.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Arsenal did very little in January, they often prefer to act in the summer.

And that may therefore feed into Minto’s idea that Arsenal may be the club that signs Toney ready for next season.
