Millwall have secured the signing of 18-year-old Scottish midfielder Daniel Kelly from Celtic, marking their seventh acquisition of the summer.

The highly-rated youngster, who has been on the radar of several clubs, made six first-team appearances for Celtic during the 2023/24 season.

Kelly’s rise through the ranks at Celtic was fuelled by impressive performances for the club’s B team and in the UEFA Youth League, which earned him a place in Brendan Rodgers’ senior squad.

He also played a pivotal role in Celtic’s triumphant Glasgow Cup campaign in 2023 and made a memorable impact in the Scottish Premiership by scoring his debut goal against Dundee.

Steve Gallen, Millwall’s Director of Football, expressed his satisfaction with the new addition, saying, “Daniel is a player that has been on the club’s radar for some time and highlighted to me upon my arrival.”

Gallen added, “It’s been no secret that he’s attracted a lot of interest. We’ve been working on this deal all summer, and we’re delighted that he sees his long-term future with Millwall.”

He further outlined the club’s strategy with the signing, stating:

“He’s exactly the type of profile we want to bring in. He’s a young box-to-box midfielder, athletic, dynamic, and I feel he has a bright future and can add real quality to the squad. Our aim and vision is to create assets for this football club and bring in younger players, as well as promoting players from our Academy.”

Kelly’s move to The Den signals Millwall’s continued focus on building a squad with potential, blending youthful energy with the promise of long-term development.
