BAD NEWS: ‘Player spotted with an ice pack’ – Nightmare situation for Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham star man this season looks to have picked up a hamstring INJURY against Everton [Full Story]

Tottenham may have finally won against Everton today, but they are worried about star defender Cristian Romero.

Romero was forced to leave the field and was replaced by Eric Dier as Tottenham’s defensive problems continued to mount. With Micky van de Ven already injured, Spurs cannot afford to drop anyone else now.

However, it looks like Romero’s injury could be a problem, and there will be some nervous faces at the club as they wait for a diagnosis.

According to Football London’s Alasdair Gold, Romero looks to have injured his thigh muscle a little, with the journalist pointing out that the defender was wearing an ice pack in his hoof in the second half.

Romero’s injury will be a nightmare for Tottenham:

Although Gold points out that Romero was in the side-stand and receiving treatment, which could mean a minor problem, it is a worrying one for Spurs.

They have suffered some big injuries this season, which has threatened to derail their campaign. The main problems are, of course, Maddison and Van de Ven.

But if Romero has also done something to his thigh muscle, it will need to be managed properly and over the busy festive period that was always going to be difficult.

Ange Postecoglou will no doubt wait for the medical team to give him an opinion. If Romero does not play, Eric Dier will probably get the chance, as the club is currently struggling at centre-back.

So January can’t come soon enough for the Spurs and with the rumours of signing Jean-Clair Todib, the Spurs may have to hurry if Romero is indeed out.
