The Sun claims that Manchester United has been forced to look for other options after learning that Stuttgart striker Serhou Guirassy wants to join Tottenham in January to replace Harry Kane directly.
Guirassy has been one of the most in-demand strikers in Europe this season, with the centre-forward having already scored 19 goals in just 16 games this season (Transfermarkt).
Over the last month, several media outlets have reported that Tottenham are battling with Newcastle United and West Ham for the 27-year-old, who has a €17.5 million (£15 million) opt-out clause in his contract (TEAMtalk).
Ed Aarons of The Guardian revealed last week that Manchester United have also joined the race for the Guinea international in January, as Erik Ten Hag looks to add another number nine to his squad.
Guirassy is moving to Spurs rather than Man United:
Guirassy would prefer to move to Tottenham Hotspur despite interest from Man Utd in next month’s transfer window.
The newspaper adds that the Red Devils, after learning about his development, have turned their attention to Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri instead.
While Postecoglou might have preferred to sign a wide striker rather than a centre-forward in January, the north London club might consider that the opportunity to sign a goalscorer of Guirassi’s quality for £15 million is too good to miss.
