Forget Ivan Toney and Victor Osimehn – Arsenal can sign their very own Luis Suarez for £60m as Mikel Arteta eyes January transfer for Goal-machine 5X better than Gabriel Jesus

Feyenoord forward Santiago Gimenez is the latest player to be linked with a January transfer to Arsenal. The north Londoners have plenty of options in attack, with Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard, Eddie Nketiah and Kai Havertz all capable of playing in the centre of attack in Mikel Arteta’s team.

However, none of them can be described as reliable goalscorers, which may be necessary if the Gunners are to win the Premier League title this season. Victor Osimhen of Napoli and Ivan Toney of Brentford have been mentioned as potential transfer targets for Arsenal, and now Gimenez has also been linked with a move.

According to the Guardian, the Mexican international is thought to cost around £60 million, which if signed would make him the fourth most expensive signing in Gunners’ history. Gimenez has recently established himself as one of the most reliable goalscorers in Europe.

The 22-year-old scored 31 goals in the Eredivisie in 2023, breaking Luis Suarez’s record of 30 goals in a calendar year with Ajax in 2009. Dutch icon Ruud Gullit even said that the youngster would be an ideal fit at the Emirates Stadium.

He told GamblingZone: “I think Santiago Gimenez would be a good fit for Arsenal because Feyenoord play similar football. He would be used to that and would fit in more easily.

“Chelsea are looking for their identity at the moment and Gimenez would come to a team that is struggling. I would prefer to go to a team that knows exactly what it has to do.

“Of course I hope he is the one who will give Chelsea what it needs. I don’t know what Chelsea is at the moment!”
