West Ham full-back Emerson Palmieri has no intention of leaving the club, despite reports linking him with a move to Galatasaray.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Italian international is “very happy” at the London Stadium and remains committed to David Moyes’ side.
The 30-year-old has been a regular in the West Ham lineup this season, starting all three Premier League games.
His presence on the left flank appears to be integral to Moyes’ plans, even as the team has endured a somewhat underwhelming start to the campaign with just one win from their opening fixtures.
Emerson joined the Hammers from Chelsea in 2022 and has since made 85 appearances, contributing three goals and four assists. His most notable achievement came last year when he was part of the West Ham squad that lifted the UEFA Conference League trophy, ending the club’s long wait for silverware.
There had been speculation that Emerson could leave West Ham for Galatasaray before the Turkish transfer window closes on Friday.
However, Romano, writing on X.com, dismissed those claims, stating: “Despite links with Turkish clubs, Emerson Palmieri has no interest in leaving West Ham. He’s staying at #WHUFC, very happy there.”
This news will be welcomed by West Ham fans, as losing Emerson at this stage of the season would have left them short of options at left-back. With only Aaron Cresswell as the other natural left-sided defender in the squad, any departure would have been a significant blow.
Although he has faced criticism for his performance in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City, Emerson has generally been a reliable performer since his arrival at the club.
West Ham spent significantly in the summer to strengthen their squad, bringing in the likes of Max Kilman, Jean-Clair Todibo, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
After finishing ninth last season, they will be hoping this investment helps them push for European football again.
