BREAKING – Everton Facing Scrutiny Over Gambling Sponsorship Breach

The Premier League has declined to comment on concerns that Everton may be breaching regulations related to gambling sponsorships, as reported by The Mirror on 22 October.

Everton are one of six Premier League clubs accused of failing to offer adult replica kits without gambling logos, an apparent violation of league rules.

A report by Pitch Inspection identified Everton, along with Aston Villa, Fulham, Brentford, Nottingham Forest, and Southampton, as clubs not providing gambling-free replica kits.

Although the clubs can retain gambling sponsors on their kits until the 2026 deadline, the Premier League’s silence on the matter has raised concerns that additional sanctions could follow.

Everton find themselves embroiled in controversy once more, compounding an already strained relationship with the Premier League.

Stake.com, the gambling firm that has been Everton’s front-of-shirt sponsor since the 2022/23 season, has previously drawn criticism for appearing on a junior section of the club’s website—an action that breached the voluntary gambling advertising code.

The latest development adds to the frustration of supporters, who are eager for the end of Farhad Moshiri’s tenure as majority owner.

Moshiri’s reign has been marred by a series of missteps, and fans are hoping that the upcoming takeover by Dan Friedkin’s American consortium will usher in a new era of professionalism and stability.

Friedkin, known for his no-nonsense business approach, is expected to bring tighter oversight to the club once the acquisition is finalised. Evertonians hope that these kinds of regulatory breaches will become a thing of the past under the new ownership.

For now, the club faces the challenge of navigating both the potential fallout from this latest breach and the search for a new primary sponsor ahead of the 2024/25 season.
